You've most certainly heard the warnings about carefully reading the labels of the facial skin care products that you plan on using every day. Knowing exactly what you are putting on your skin is of the utmost importance. Of course unless you have a degree in chemistry, you could look at the ingredients of most facial care products all day without understanding what they actually contain.
Almost anything that you can pick up, whether it is cream, lotion, soap or cosmetic that you are currently using in your facial skin care routine, you will see the word parabens. Parabens are a quarter of chemical preservatives widely used in cosmetic products because of how cheap they are to use. All four are suspected of causing cancer.
These parabens build up in your tissue over a period of time, and the more that we expect ourselves to them the greater your risk of developing cancer. These preservatives are not ingredients that you want in your facial care products, or in any other cosmetic that you use daily.
The fact is that after inventorying your cosmetics, you may come to find that you have to empty out your cabinets and start from scratch. If that is the case, let me give you some tips on some really great, natural ingredients that you should try in your facial skin care routine. For cleansing your skin you need either orange oil or colloidal oatmeal with no preservatives or fragrance.
You should lean towards hypo-allergenic cosmetics products for your facial care needs. You should take care to look for a good moisturizer that does not contain mineral oil or petrolatum. They are from the petroleum based family, and will leave your skin feeling greasy and will clog your pores.
The best oils to use for facial skin care are plant based oils, as they are closer to the skins natural oil called sebum. Plant oils are light, non-greasy, and easily absorb. Grape seed oil is one of the very best, because not only does it moisturize well, but it also leaves an invisible protective film on the skin that helps to keep out dirt and grime.
Another tip is to avoid the daily use of any sort of sunscreen, because it has been found that many of them contain chemicals in them that are cancer causing. Daily use can also cause our bodies to become deficient in vitamin D. For the purpose of facial care the safest sunscreen that you can use is zinc oxide SPF 30 or above.
For facial skin care for men who shave, try to add a little capuacu butter to your regimen, because it is an effective moisturizer that also heals razor burns. Witch hazel is also an excellent choice because it is a non-drying astringent that also reduces redness and irritation.
Facial care for women should include the use of passion fruit extract because it balances the production of the skins own sebum. It will make your skin both soft and smooth, and is an excellent addition to any facial skin care program.
